Try Japanese Shiatsu Massage for Golfer's Elbow


In Dubai, more and more people like two item better and better. One is massage, especially the Japanese Massage, the other one is Golf.Shiatsu is believed to work by massaging specific pressure points balancing the body's "qi' or the flow and balance of the body's energy. Shiatsu is believed to help heal many ailments including headaches, body aches, stress, insomnia, depression and heartburn.

Golfers often suffer pain or tenderness in the forearm and elbow area known as golfer's elbow caused by the repetitive motions of swinging golf clubs. While shiatsu originated in the eastern world and golf in the western world there are specific ways how to use shiatsu for golfer's elbow.

Self-Performed Shiatsu

Close your eyes, take a few deep breaths, relax your body and mind. You will be more open to the effects of shiatsu if you are relaxed and focusing solely on balancing your qi.

Familiarize yourself with the pressure points. There are pressure points located throughout your body. Each pressure point is associated with another spot on the body. The pressure points are often more sensitive and feel different to the touch than the surrounding areas.

Massage the pressure points. There are 4 main pressure points that when massaged correctly can help alleviate the pain, swelling and tension associated with golfer's elbow. Use the fingers on your non-injured arm to massage the pressure points on the injured arm.

Use your index finger and thumb to squeeze the web between your index finger and thumb. Hold this for 30 seconds to relax the tension in your arm.

Take your middle and index fingers to apply pressure to the point where the forearm bones meet. The point is on the inside of the wrist about 2 fingers widths from your palm. Apply pressure for 1 minute.

Locate the point on the outer side of the crease of your elbow. Use your thumb to apply pressure to this point for 1 minute, reducing pressure and swelling.

Move up to the pressure point on the inside of your upper arm, about a finger's width from your elbow. Apply pressure for 1 minute using your middle and index fingers.

Shiatsu by a Practitioner

Locate a local shiatsu practitioner. Shiatsu massage therapy is not available everywhere. Search your phone and web directory to find a practitioner near you.

Dress comfortably for the appointment. As no oils are used, you will be dressed during the massage.

Explain to your practitioner the symptoms of your golfer's elbow and that you hope to use shiatsu to relive the symptoms.

Relax and enjoy the massage. The practitioner will apply pressure to various points. Focus on the pressure and allowing your qi to balance.

Shiatsu has not been scientifically proven to relieve golfer's elbow or other ailments.
